Nile
Shriners

Welcome!

Shriners come from all walks of life. We are members of the community who are working or retired, members of the trades, business professionals, business leaders and men who want to just have fun. We are fathers, uncles and sons. We are also brothers. When you become a Shriner, you become part of a brotherhood of men committed to family, engaged in ongoing personal growth, and dedicated to providing care of children and families in need through Shriners Childrens® regardless of their ability to pay.

While our backgrounds and interests may be diverse, what binds us together are shared values and a desire to have fun, do good and build relationships that can last a life time. Is it time for you to learn more about Shriners International? Visit www.beashrinernow.com and find out. You can also go to our Join Nile page for what it will take to join.

Moving Forward into the Season

Things are moving fast here at your Shrine Temple. As I write this, the final parts of the Member Lounge are being installed, the floor repairs in the Pote’s office are complete, the network buildout is in its final phase, our basement remodel should be completed within the week (just décor and flooring to go after that) and the Silent Messenger statue stands proud and tall in front of our main building. It isn’t just projects and improvements, we’re hosting events as well!

Last week was our Family Night Stated Meeting. A good turnout, but we have room for more. Our monthly Poker Tournament continues to be popular and fun, and we wrapped the spring movie series this past Saturday with a showing of Crocodile Dundee.

The big theme coming up is our Day of Nobility, coming up May 4th. This will be the first opportunity any new members have had to experience a ceremonial since before COVID. Look for more information on our website and in this newsletter. We’ll be finishing off the evening with our Nobility Ball, the biggest party of the year! If you want to attend, make sure to purchase admission ahead of time with Robyn in the office, no exceptions!

A reminder about the best opportunity in decades to attend one of the biggest events in Shrinedom; Imperial Session is being held in Reno, NV this year and ends in time for everyone to be back for Fourth of July celebrations, if you choose, or stay and enjoy the party there! The host hotels have just undergone renovations that bring them in line and above the best hotels in Las Vegas. With headliners like Jerry Seinfeld, fine dining from the likes of Gordon Ramsay and luxury rooms geared toward kids at heart, we’ve reserved rooms at Circus Circus Reno, now owned by Caesars. Discover 227,000 square feet of casino space with over 2,500 slot machines, 84 table games and Reno’s only Topgolf Swing Suite. THE ROW Reno offers a wide variety of dining options, from award-winning steaks, seafood, comfort food and more. The Nile block of rooms start June 28th and go through July 5th. Click here for a link to book your room. We will be hosting a hospitality suite as well as the traditional Temple Dinner. Dining and schedule suggestions will be provided as well, so that once you arrive the focus is on having fun!

Lastly; pass along the call! To support our Shriners Hospitals, we’re getting together on the morning of May 17th prior to the Shriner’s Hospital Northwest Classic Golf Tournment. For the news media present, we need 100+ Shriners, in our fezes, to show that we believe in what we started as the World’s Greatest Philanthropy. Come out and represent!

Yours,

Become a Freemason

At the recent Conference of Grand Masters in Louisville, Kentucky, Imperial Potentate Jeff Sowder, along with Scottish Rite Sovereign Grand Commanders David A. Glattly, 33° (Northern Masonic Jurisdiction), and James D. Cole, 33° (Southern Jurisdiction), announced a formal partnership on the Path Forward for Freemasonry.

As part of that initiative, the three leaders announced BeaFreemason.org, which features a wealth of information including an explanation of Masonic terms, lodge life, symbolism, degrees and family organizations. Launched in mid-February, this first-of-its-kind site introduces Freemasonry to men who are looking to "become the best version" of themselves. The site has a "Get in Touch" button, so prospects (in North America) can fill out a short form that will put them in touch with a Masonic leader in their local area. We hope you share this helpful site with men that you know who are committed to lives of honor, integrity and character.
