They have a song in their hearts, and whether it’s “a cappella” or accompanied by musical instruments, these unique singers provide incomparable renditions of the classics, traditional or contemporary songs wherever they gather to perform.

Although they are currently lacking a musical muse, Chanters are looking for new members. Do you have a musical background? Come help revitalize this special unit. Their goal is to reform the Chanters into an actual live performing group in the future.

At this moment, the main function of the Chanters is to provide a valuable and effective show for our yearly Ceremonial.

How To Join: Write a freeform application on a cocktail napkin of your choice and submit it to any of the Zem Zem members at an event or call the Nile Office to find an officer to submit it to – 425-774-9611 x201.

A non-parading unit, they provide a corps of bartenders at all official functions, as well as, other special events as requested by the Potentate. This is an opportunity to get to know many Shriners and those associated with the Nile.

Liquor service and mixology instruction and training are provided. Enjoyment of alcoholic beverages not required. This is a very popular unit.

Cops and robbers are their game. Composed of active and retired law enforcement officers, they revel in their uniforms and, when duty calls, furnish guidance in matters of law enforcement.

“Shurtah” means “police” in Arabic.

How To Join: Just show up on a Monday night in the Nile basement.

Costumed Shriners who have an affinity for the exotic will love participating in this unit. Their music emanates from musettes, tambourines and other Middle Eastern musical instruments. They are right out of the “Arabian Nights.” Come join them ride their giant float in many parades around our region. Musical talent not required.

The Nile Oriental Band is always looking for Nobles who want to participate in parades and competitions with a really fun bunch of guys. We meet and practice each Monday night starting with social hour at 5:30 pm and practice at 6:30. One of our most popular events is hosting the Oriental Band Crab Feed each February.

A precision drill team riding 1970 Honda CT70 trail bikes. Always a great deal of excitement and thrills for the crowd. These little motorcycles provide immense joy to the Shriners themselves, but more so to the spectators along the parade route.

The objectives of the Nile Shrine Golf Club are to encourage and promote friendly competition in golf among fellow Nobles, to advance the spirit of fellowship and to actively support the golf facilities of the Nile Shrine. Any noble of any Shrine, in good standing is eligible for membership.

Regular Club Membership

The annual dues are $40.00. You may elect to join the Washington State Golf Association and maintain a GHIN (Golf Handicap Index Number). The cost is $36.00 per year.

Social Membership

The annual dues for this category are $40.00. The Social Member is a full voting member with all privileges of the Regular Member except he is not a member of the Washington State Golf Association (handicaps will not be kept).

Club Room Lockers

The annual dues for a locker are $30.00. To be eligible for a locker the Shriner must be a member of the Nile Men’s Golf Club. Note: All memberships and lockers must be renewed annually beginning January 1st of each calendar year.

Membership Offer

A Shriner in good standing may be eligible for a Membership in the Nile Golf Club.
One year membership for each individual includes:

• Eligible for Nile Shrine green fee rates (no guest privileges)
• Eligible for cart storage
• Eligible for locker in Club Room
• Eligible for competitions and club championship
• Eligible for membership in the NW Golf Association

The Legion of Honor of the Nile Shrine consists of honorably discharged veterans and active-duty members of the military of the United States and its allies. Our ranks include veterans of every branch of service, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and the Coast Guard. The Flag Unit provides color guards and other services to the Nile Shrine at the pleasure of the Potentate. The Legion of Honor Flag Unit can be found in front of the Nile Shrine contingent in parades and presenting the colors at meetings and other Nile events.

First Section – A working unit, in charge of the presentation of the realistic part of Ceremonials. Those who have skills in lighting and sound systems will find a home here.

Second Section – Affectionately known as the “Wrecking Crew”, they build and prepare stunts for the Hot Sands Ceremonials, participate in parades (as specified by the Potentate) and assist in upkeep and work projects around the Shrine.

They come in every shape and size, with impeccably applied makeup. They swirl in costumes painted with all the colors of the rainbow and swell in their monstrous-sized shoes. Running, hopping and jumping in and out of the vestibules of clowndom, they enchant the children until they squeal with delight.

The Calliope, a reminder of yesteryear, provides the nostalgic music of the circus and adds to the fun of parades and festivals. They have garnered an abundance of awards.

There are no requirements and no rehearsals. It would help if you can play the piano or organ, but it is not required. We can also use drivers for parades.
