Pote's Notes - Dec 2016/Jan 2017

Another successful year for the Haunted House – Wow they were scary! My thanks go out to Noble Jody Bossert and all the staff. Assistant Rabban Larry Bronner and Lady Annie did a great job of getting all of their gang together to work the booth, parking and security. Director’s staff worked hard in their booth as always and put out some good eats.

Lady Denise and I had a great time at Daughters of the Nile - Supreme Queen Official Visit. We enjoyed sitting with, and having lunch with Supreme Queen Cathy Carol Rose. The food was great and the conversation was even better. Congratulations to the new members of Daughters of the Nile. All of the ladies were dressed so eloquently as usual.

Queen Guyanna and the Ladies of the Shrine had their annual auction. We spent a lot of money and got some really great things. If you missed it, you really needed to be there. Queen Guyanna and I got into a bidding war over a night at Jazz Alley. Unfortunately, I had to stop when I finally got her to bid $100. Thank you to all the ladies for all your hard work and dedication to the children.

I want to thank all of the members that attended our Kash for Kids Stated Meeting on November 11th. There were turkeys to be had (not the divan) and they were all given out. There was good fun shared by all, and we really appreciate everyone coming out to buy tickets. All the money goes to the Kids.

The Ugly Christmas Sweater Ball is December 3rd, tickets are $35 and are available in the Nile office. We will have music with a DJ. There will be an ugly Christmas sweater contest, silent auction and just lots of fun. If you don’t have an ugly sweater, just wear what you would like.

December 14th is the next Stated Meeting. We will have elections for the Divan. Remember you are electing those Shriners that will lead our Nile Shrine into the future. You do have a say and your vote does count.

This will be my last issue. Lady Denise and I have enjoyed our year and will always be grateful for all YOU have done for us. We enjoyed our friends and have made new ones that we will enjoy now and in the future. I cannot express my gratitude enough for all the elected and appointed members and everything you did for us this year. Please never forget why you became a Shriner.

I want to thank two of my very close friends, Steve Kiely and Jim Hutchins. These two gentlemen gave up their lives for the last year so that we were able to have the Nile as it exists today and for NO pay. I also want to thank Rhoda Kiely and Marilyn Hutchins for allowing, (I’m sure begrudgingly) them both to do what they did. I will be in your debt for a very long time, ladies.

Remember we are here “for the children”.

See you on the golf course.
